Projects

I like to stay busy and at least have one big project in the works. Below are some projects that I am currently working on.

BarCamp Charleston

It all started with a twitter post after seeing all the cool sessions at another barcamp in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area…and the rest is history.  We will be having our very first Barcamp on October 24th, at the Lowcountry Innovation Center

Here’s a little about what a barcamp is:

“BarCamp is about participation not observation”bacamp_logo_color_sm

BarCamp is a local, ad-hoc “un-conference” where those attending determine what will be presented. Sessions, discussions, demos and interaction occur from everyone attending, not a select panel of speakers. BarCamp provides an open environment for learning and sharing knowledge.

Unlike conventional conferences, BarCamp is 100% free.

BarCamp is typically geared towards technology topics, but considering all of the creative diversity in Charleston, we want to broaden the scope and encourage artists, writers, designers, non-profits, and more to participate.

Green Ambassadors

As an inspiration organization empowering youth to change the world, be on the lookout for big things in the near future

  • The current site is static, but I am exploring ways to make it dynamic via a content management system like drupal or joomla. Unfortunately, I am still unsure of the hosting specs.
  • Some of the future features are to include a CRM, Newsletter, Polls, Blog, and many more!
  • While based in California, the Green Ambassadors are going to go on tours of America, spreading the know-how of making biodiesel. They also have a plastics and conservation campaign. The latter sending them to remote areas like the Pantanal in Brasil.

    Koji and Naazli’s wedding site

  • Some good friends of mine, and in a nod to some other friends Brian and Ruby, I want to help make their wedding site.

  • Outdoor Education Online

  • I have recieved feedback from my supervisor that this seems like a really good idea. What a better way to get kids excited about learning than to let them use technology to go places they have never been before.
  • This project is still on the backburner due to my busy schedule, but if you want to see a sampling of some of the videos, visit my YouTube Page
  • Some of my ideas are to include a moodle implementation for online courses and a good snappy way to view lots of rich media like streaming video and podcasts.
